Three used monitors are transformed into aquariums with living betta fish placed inside. Each monitor depicts the most occupied space in one’s life: a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living room. Especially during the current pandemic, where our universe shrinks as we are no longer free to roam around. But then, the silver lining always finds its way through, we can still connect with others online.
In arranging this installation, Studio Malya constructs everyday moments of confinement that people now share globally. At the same time, they construe the sense of transparency through the use of aquariums. It tells us the truest story of modern life: we may be physically separated, but technology never ceases to bring us closer.
